Recipe of the Week - Nutella Cake
Yes, it sounds so wrong but it tastes soooo right. Even if you're not a lover of Nutella, we challenge you to taste-test this delicious cake and not change your mind. With an all-in-one method, it's easy and best eaten warm from the oven....
- 175g softened butter
- 175g golden caster sugar
- 200g self-raising flour
- 3 eggs
- 1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp milk
- 4 rounded tbsp Nutella
Preheat the oven to 180C/gas 4/ fan 160C.
Butter and line the base of a 20cm round cake tin.
Put the butter, eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and milk into a bowl. Beat with a wooden spoon or in a mixer for 1-2 minutes, until light and fluffy.
Spoon three quarters of the mixture into the tin, spread it level, then spoon the Nutella on in four blobs.
Spoon the remaining mixture over the Nutella and using a skewer or fork, swirl the mixture a few times to cover the Nutella.
Bake for 1 hour until risen, nicely browned, feels firm to touch and springs back when lightly pressed (cover with foil if it starts to brown too quickly).
Cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out, peel off the paper and cool on a wire rack.
Sit back and enjoy.
